Starting from the number IX (2, 2012) Lo Sguardo includes a section called “Contributions” that welcomes original manuscripts reviewed by two external referees according to the double blind review system. The exact number of the call for papers and their topics will be detailed and specified by the curators of every single number. The call for papers will appear on Lo Sguardo website (www.losguardo.net) until the submission deadline. They will be translated in major European languages.
Lo Sguardo adopts two different ways to ask for and receive a proposal in its Calls for Papers:
1) Abstract: authors will be invited to send an abstract of the article. All the abstracts will be evaluated by the Referee board of the journal, and later selected by the editors of the issue, basing on criteria of accuracy in form and contents, consequentiality in the argumentation and inherence to the matter. In case of acceptance of the proposal, the editorial team will be ask the author to send the complete article by a new deadline. The article will be submitted to a peer-review process, pursuant to the following rules effectives for the point 2)
2) Articles, that will be selected according to the following rules.
Format your paper in .doc (not .odt, pdf, et alia). The contribution must be new and will be named and titled anonymously. It should contain any information which identifies the author. The article will also be accompanied by a short abstract of no longer than 1000 characters including spaces. The files must be submitted not after the deadline indicated in the call for papers. We will reject the contributions received after the due date. The heading should repeat the email’s object, followed by the title and the contribution, formatted according to the editorial guidelines described here. The length and the eventual cuts of the contribution are discretional. Please respect the basic criteria of clearness. The article can be submitted in one of the following languages: Italian, English, French, German, Spanish.
The process of peer-review will take place as follows:
– Sending / Reception: The files containing the proposed articles will be received by the editors at the e-mail address callforpapers@losguardo.net. Please use as the object of the message the “Call for Papers Proposal”, followed by the number of the issue and by the number of the call for papers in the call. One or more members of the editorial boarder will count the contributions received, and they will communicate to the authors the receipt of the file and the starting of the referee procedure (the names of those members of the editorial board are reported in the Call for papers and they are appointed case by case). For any information the editorial boarder will contact the authors at their email address.
– First step: a preliminary review will be made, based on the general criteria of relevance of the topic, coherence and clearness, language property, grammatical accuracy. At this stage, the editors decide whether the submitted manuscript should be sent to referees or not.
– Second step: If the manuscript will be accepted by editors, expert reviewer (postdocs and researchers) read the manuscript and give their clear opinions.
– Third step: If the second step judgment is good, professors – having expertise on the topic of the call for papers – will give the third assessment. Accepted articles should be published. The editorial boarder will contact the Authors informing them about the result of the submission (accepted/not accepted) with the synthetic opinion of the reviewers and the date of receipt. Reviewer comments should be constructive. They may allow the author to improve the quality of the manuscript. Reviewers’ identities are not know by the Author of the manuscript. Their evaluation will be send via e-mail.
Accepted articles will be published on Lo Sguardo in the section “Contributions”. This section will include a list of information concerning the date of receipt and the Author.
