Women Voices in the ‘Silver Age’ Spanish Thought (1868-1936): Intersections of Philosophy, Literature and Arts
This special issue examines women’s voices in Spanish thought during the Silver Age (1868–1936), highlighting their decisive contributions to philosophy, literature, and the arts, and seeks to stimulate further research into neglected female voices of the Silver Age. It aims to challenge dominant hermeneutic frameworks that have marginalized female authorship within the cultural and intellectual canon of the period. Through an interdisciplinary approach, the volume reconsiders both canonical figures – such as María de Maeztu and María Zambrano – and lesser-known thinkers, writers, and artists. The essays explore women’s roles in educational reform, symbolic and imaginative practices, and political and cultural dissent. Particular attention is paid to the intersections between conceptual analysis and artistic experimentation, proposing new pathways for rethinking contemporary Spanish intellectual history.
