The theory of complexity shows us how difficult it is to really know oneself. So how much more difficult is it to say we know other people, especially people with different cultures and different religions. The author shows that in order to establish an efficient dialogue enabling the realization of a common world, we must first admit that not everything is acceptable in a given culture, especially when human dignity is at stake. From this point and in a pragmatic way, common principles can be established which go beyond the different cultures. In this way, interculturality based on interactions between people of different cultures, can, according to the criterion that the whole is more than the sum of the parts, create new properties and new functions.
