Gilles Deleuze’s Heraclitus

Gilles Deleuze’s thought is a labyrinth of numerous references to the history of philosophy. The reinterpretation of tradition is, in fact, typical of its strategy to the point that it can be called an essential part of its style. Far from the concerns of hermeneutics, this style aims to look for other thinkers’ motivations and positions, being able to determine the coordinates of the issues they have posed. This article proposes to demonstrate the existence of a Deleuzian Heraclitus. Although great attention has always been given to the Deleuzian approach to treating the various authors, a reconstruction of this fundamental relationship is missing. But it is only by starting from the sources available to Deleuze, Friedrich Nietzsche and Kostas Axelos, that we can finally shed light on the distortion that Deleuze causes Heraclitus to suffer in the light of a common cause: a philosophy of process based on a conflicting idea of becoming.
