Biopolitics of Identity. Individual, Memory, Culture
During XX century three different metaphors on memory have been developed in the related fields of taxonomy, immunology and cultural communication’s theory. The three of them rely on a vision of memory that makes out of this faculty either a historical account of inheritable attributes embedded into the genes and morphologies –genetic memory–, a metaphysical assumption which builds up a defending self against the foreign invader –immune memory–, or an ability to produce and carry on a representational content through generations and epochs –cultural memory. The present’s work aim is to provide with a plausible guide to the analogies the three narrative strategies could bear on them, showing in the course of it how some conditions on memory are common to all.
